According to the press release, the construction of the plants (wind, solar PV, OTEC) is expected to begin in 2018. Yenni Andavani said: During 2018, we hope to develop wind, solar PV and OTEC on a large scale in order to reach the expected capacity of 560 MW of energy production set in our project portofolio.
The development of renewable energy projects in Indonesia is triggered by the economic growth of the country, which resulted in the increase of the electricity demand by 8.5 percent. Government of Indonesia has committed to ensure that 23 percent of electricity is generated by renewables by the year 2025.
