Xenesys/Saga heat exchanger research centre
OTECA Xenesys and Saga University joint research centre will be opened in April 2008. The centre which will house 40 employees is expected to cost 1 billion yen (US$ 8 million). Read the Xenesys press release.


NIOT floating desalination plant data
OTECAccording to a Xenesys press release the NIOT floating OTEC test plant is currently running on diesel power and generating 1000 ton of fresh water per day. They take up seawater from 500 meters depth through a pipe of 1 meter diameter and use the OTEC heatexchangers to produce the freshwater. In the future they hope to power the process using the OTEC generators.


Xenesys signs OTEC deal with Kuwait National Petroleum Company
OTECAccording to a Xenesys press release, they have signed a memorandum of understanding with Kuwait National Petroleum Company with regards to building an OTEC facility for power generation and fresh water production. The contract is expected to be worth about US$16 million (2 billion yen).
