First Commercial OTEC by Bardot Ocean

BARDOT Group, a French SME specialised in subsea engineering and equipment manufacturing for offshore energy, has signed a contract for the first commercial OTEC system to be installed in an eco-resort in Maldives. The contract was signed between the two parties in presence of the Minister of Environment and Energy of Maldives, Mr Thoriq Ibrahim.

The contract includes Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation works.

Vast potential for Ocean Thermal Energy in the Caribbean

CAF – The Development Bank of Latin America – has identified the potential use of deep seawater air conditioning (SWAC) systems in the Caribbean. Hotels and resorts are large consumers of electrical energy in Caribbean islands, and conventional air conditioning (A/C) systems account for around 40% of the total energy consumption in such buildings. SWAC uses deep cold seawater to replace the chillers used in conventional A/C systems, greatly reducing the electrical consumption and costs.… Continue reading

Akuo Energy, DCNS and Entrepose to work together to develop onshore OTEC plant for Martinique

Under the auspices of French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, Akuo Energy, DCNS and Entrepose (VINCI Construction) have announced the signing of a partnership agreement regarding an Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plant project on the island of Martinique, a project called NAUTILUS. Renewable marine power developer Akuo Energy will use technology from DCNS in the OTEC plant. Entrepose will carry out the engineering at sea.
