OTEC News - OTEC Library

The news source for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC)

An online OTEC library

Since September 2004 we have the OTEC Library online. The library contains OTEC research articles, conference proceedings, OTEC designs, an archive of newspaper articles, the OTEC News cache and more. To date the library contains nearly fifty items and we are adding to that regularly. We are co-hosting the library with the GreenOcean Library which contain information about the Seawater Greenhouse among other things.

We have the following books and publications available in our library. We are working on expanding the library substantially as you read this. If you have something which you think we should have, please contact us about it.

We have a temporary listing of sixty research papers, publications and articles which we have been given by Phil Kopitske. The papers are from the last 25 years and cover a variety of topics with regards to OTEC. These documents will be scanned in as we have time and entered into the OTEC Library.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion
ISBN: 0-471-96009-8
Publishers: John Wiley & Sons, 1996
Authors: Patrick Takahashi, Andrew Trenka

This book is part of the UNESCO Energy Engineering Series, a distance learning package. It provides a good overview of OTEC and other ocean energy technologies. It has sections on economics as well as OTEC thermodynamics. This 75 page "booklet" is recommended to anyone who wants to get a quick overview, which also has some indepth material. Decently priced.

Renewable Energy from the Ocean
A Guide to OTEC
ISBN: 0-19-507199-9
Publisher: Oxford University Press, 1994
Authors: William H. Avery, Chih Wu

This is the "bible" in OTEC technology. Written by two very qualified professionals, an indepth study of OTEC. This book supposedly is getting a bit long in the tooth, but gives unrivaled background and indepth information on the subject. Not cheap, but worth it.
